Purpose
Create two editorial spreads using an article by Ian Bogost, from The Atlantic, using illustration and typography to visually introduce the subject for the September 2021 issue. For this case, the article was about the environmental threat of red meat in traditional grilling and using vegetarian alternatives to reduce your carbon footprint. With Men’s Health, the spreads should get the reader engaged with the topic.
I decided to shift from a realistic style to a more flattering vibrant approach that’s guaranteed to catch the eye and not disgust or deter the reader from the topic.
Adding texture evokes the feeling of grilling that ties the illustrations and typeface to the article.
